Made in 2014, these are 3 of 5, high-quality, 19”x26” lithograph prints of James Sterling Pitt’s cover artwork for Song Spells No. 1: Cedarsmoke that were made but NOT hand colored by the artist.

A total of 10 prints were made. 5 were hand colored by James Sterling Pitt, and 5 were left uncolored. These are 3 of the uncolored prints.

Pitt’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in San Francisco, Boston, and Berlin, and group exhibitions throughout the Bay Area and New York. His work is in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Berkeley Art Museum.

A close friend of Alex Brown Church, Pitt first entered the Sea Wolf fray by creating original artwork for Sea Wolf’s debut EP, Get to the River, Before it Runs Too Low (2007), and album, Leaves in the River (2007). In 2014, Church again asked Pitt to create original works for the Song Spells No.1: Cedarsmoke record. As with the first releases, the artwork for Cedarsmoke directly sites lyrical content within the album.

Signed and numbered by James Sterling Pitt and Alex Brown Church.
